Light Gives Heat is an organization that partners with local Artisans in Uganda to create opportunity for consistent incomes for Ugandan people. The organization has two Ugandan brands, SUUBI and EPOH and staff on the ground in Uganda creating long-term partnerships with these Artisans, enabling and employing them to make handmade jewelry and fashion products to sell to consumers in America and around the globe.
Light Gives Heat works in our country to empower Americans to support the Artisans in Africa and creates opportunities for Americans to “look outside ourselves, to find beauty in the risk, and to pursue big, beautiful, crazy dreams.”
In America, SUUBI is the Brand of Necklaces sold by LGH. In Uganda, the word SUUBI means “hope” and is the name of the group of women that LGH helped form in 2007 with the intent of creating consistent incomes. There are roughly 90 women currently involved with SUUBI on a weekly basis. In America, EPOH (hope spelled backwards) is the Brand of tailor-made products sold by LGH. In Uganda, EPOH is the group of tailors with whom LGH works to create consistent incomes.
Light Gives Heat provides opportunities for single mothers and widows in Uganda to have sustainable income — income that allows them to support their children and provide an education for their children. Hear it straight from the women Light Gives Heat has helped in Uganda.
TODAY only, any funds donated to Light Gives Heat will be tripled by a private donor. Help give hope to women and children in Africa.
