If you are less-than-convinced about the real problems surrounding modern day slavery, or want to learn more about the tragedy that affects millions around the world, you need to watch Not My Life, “A film about slavery in our time. A story about the way the world is.”
The film is the first documentary taking a detailed look at human trafficking and modern day slavery in America and around the world. It was filmed on five different continents over the span of four years and shares stories of victims, survivors, families and communities that have been torn apart by the brutal and inhumane practices of human trafficking, labor slavery and sex slavery.
Not My Life unflinchingly, but with enormous dignity and compassion, depicts the unspeakable practices of a multi-billion dollar global industry whose profits, as the film’s narration says, ‘are built on the backs and in the beds of our planet’s youth.’ (notmylife.org)
Human trafficking affects an estimated 20 to 30 million men, women and children across the globe. The majority of these victims are children, who are exploited for sex or forced labor.
Directed by Oscar® nominee, Robert Bilheimer and narrated by Golden Globe® winner, Glenn Close, the film “raises profound questions about the very nature of our civilization.” Watch this film and you will see the horrors of human trafficking, and be left asking yourself, “what can I do to end this crime against the dignity of mankind?”
