- But what about remembering to be kind to ourselves? Or to the planet on which we live? How would one even know where to begin??
Well, a good place to start would be Alicia Silverstone’s website The Kind Life…
The Clueless actress started the interactive site after the success of her book The Kind Diet – A book that’s ‘about living your healthiest and happiest life to the fullest, while taking care of mama Earth at the same time!’ Just like the book, the site is packed full of tips and information on beginning to lead a vegan lifestyle. A lot of people are turned off by the term Vegan, considering it a hippy idealism that leads to malnutrition and a compulsion to buy hemp, but in reality eating a well balanced plant based diet is actually beneficial to your body and helps reduce your carbon footprint.
Alicia wanted to create a place that people from all over the world could share their experiences and help others who ‘want to delve deeper into the world of healthy, green, eco friendly living’. As someone who ‘flirts’ with the idea of going vegan, it’s comforting to know that there is a community I can go to with my queries about cheese alternatives and ways to keep cake in my life!
‘My goal here is to share everything that I have learned on my journey
with all of you, and I want you all to share your experiences with me. Let’s
get inspired together and help each other to live the healthiest, kindest lives
possible! – Alicia Silverstone
You can message questions directly to Alicia or browse various discussion forums on great places to eat, nutritional tips, vegan friendly fashion, and greening your house. Anyone can post and share their favorite vegan dishes onto the Recipes section of the website, so it’s definitely a ‘go to’ place to find an endless list of yummy meals that you can try out if you fancy dipping your foot in the vegan pool.
Alicia regularly tweets information to her followers on Twitter about green events, fundraisers, and projects such as the Project Green Challenge, which encourages school and college students to take a 30 day green lifestyle initiative. She also posts links to new articles on The Kind Life so you can keep up to date on the best information and discoveries.
